1. Library Identification Card MUST be presented every time library materials are withdrawn.
Patrons wishing to join the Atlanta Public Library but live outside the State of Texas may purchase a card for a one-time fee of $5.00
2. Books, periodicals and books on tape may be kept for a period of 12 working days.
3. Books, periodicals and books on tape may be renewed once on or before the date due. Telephoned renewals are accepted unless the material is overdue. Video cassettes may not be renewed. No overdue materials will be renewed until fines are paid. The Librarian & Library Assistance may authorize a renewal under certain circumstances at the patron's request.
Video tapes may be kept for a period of 5 working days, Only 2 (two) tapes per card may be withdrawn. Reference materials may be kept overnight. Study materials and guides may be kept for a period of 12 working days. Drive Right books may be kept for a period of 21 working days.
4. Adults may withdrawn 10 items per card including movies. Juvenile patrons may withdraw 3 items and 2 movies.
5. Overdue fine for books will be TEN CENTS PER BOOK PER DAY. Fine for overdue video tapes will be 25 CENTS PER TAPE PER DAY.

6. A book drop for return of books is provided on the front steps of the Library for use when the Library is closed. Video tapes, records and cassette tapes MUST be returned inside the Library. They MAY NOT be placed inside the book drop. Under Section 3 of Ordinance 450, fines will be incurred if library materials are damaged in any way.
7. SECTION 2, ORDINANCE 450: RETURN OF BORROWED MATERIALS: FINES
Every adult person who shall take or borrow from the Atlanta Public Library any book, pamphlet, periodical, paper or other Library property which is allowed to be checked out, and who shall neglect, refuse or fail to return the same within two (2) weeks after the date of mailing a notice to his or her address noted on the current library card shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) for each offense, exclusive of and in addition to any administrative fees normally assessed by the Library for late return of books or materials.
Parents and/or guardians are responsible for the conduct or activities of their children under the age of 17 years. A parent or guardian is liable for any property damage to Library materials proximately caused by: (1) the negligent failure of the parent or guardian to exercise their duty of control and reasonable discipline or said child; or (2) the willful or malicious conduct of a child who is at least 12 years of age but under 18.
8. Lost cards will be replaced only upon payment of a $1.00 processing fee.
